GigaNet Mail (Win) - Configuring Outlook Express for POP

This document explains how to configure Outlook Express to use the POP protocol on the GigaNet Mail Server.

IMPORTANT: These procedures have been written for the latest version of this client. If you have problems configuring your client, please update your software to the latest version before contacting the Help Desk. To update Outlook Express, you must perform a Windows Update.
  1. Open Outlook Express, click Tools and then click Accounts...

  2. Click the Add and select Mail...
    Internet Accounts menu...
  3. Enter your Display Name. (This is your full name as you would like it to appear when you send messages to other people.) Then click Next.

  4. Enter your E-mail Address.
    This is the address that your contacts' email program will reply to your messages. This is also the address that will get recorded in your contacts' address book if they add you as a contact. The @giganetwireless.com OR @giganetwireless.net address will provide direct delivery to your GigaNet Mail account. People will still be able to send messages to any other email addresses you may also manage Enter the following:
  5. username@giganetwireless.com OR if you have a .net email address use username@giganetwireless.net

  6. Click Next.
  7. Select POP3 from the list of server types.
  8. Enter mail.giganetwireless.com OR if you have a .net email address use mail.giganetwireless.net in the "Incoming Mail Server" field.
  9. Enter mail.giganetwireless.com OR if you have a .net email address use mail.giganetwireless.net in the "Outgoing Mail Server" field.

  10. Click Next.
  11. Enter your username (username@giganetwireless.com) OR if you have a .net email address use (username@giganetwireless.net) in the "Account Name" field, and your password in "Password".
  12. Select the box labeled "Remember Password"
  13. Do not check the box labeled "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."

  14. Click Next.
    Congratulations...
  15. Click Finish to return to your account list.

  16. Click Close to end new email account setup.

Your GigaNet Mail account is now configured to check and send mail.
