GigaNet Mail (Win) - Configuring Netscape for POP

This document explains how to configure Netscape to access the GigaNet Mail server using the POP protocol and SMTP Authentication.

IMPORTANT: These procedures have been written for the latest version of this client. If you have problems configuring your client, please update your software to the latest version before contacting the Help Desk.

Configuring Netscape

  1. Open Netscape Messenger (click on the Mail icon from inside Netscape) and go to the Edit menu. Click on Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings...

  2. Click Add Account... to start configuring your GigaNet Mail account.

  3. Select Email Account and click Next.

  4. Enter Your Name. This should be your full name as you would like it to appear on messages you send.
  5. Enter your Email Address. This is the address that your contacts' email program will use to reply to your messages. The @giganetwireless.com OR if you have a .net email address use @giganetwireless.net address will provide delivery to your GigaNet Mail address.
  6. Click Next.

  7. Select POP.
  8. Enter mail.giganetwireless.com OR if you have a .net email address use mail.giganetwireless.net in the Incoming Server field. Click Next.
  9. Double check that the User Name is correct. It should be set to your NetID (username+giganetwireless.com) OR if you have a .net email address use (mail.giganetwireless.net). Click Next.

  10. Enter a desciptive name (such as My Mail or Ralph's Mail) for your account configuration in the Account Name field and then click Next.

  11. Verify your account information and then click Finish.

  12. Click OK. Your GigaNet Mail account is now configured to check and send mail.
